Shahrukh Khan… seems like he realized some facts!!! Still I aprreciate his courage!!!

In the last 30 days, I bet, if you open IBN live one of the first few lines would be about the magnanimous IPL tournament. I am enjoying it too even though Deccan Chargers could not make even a comparable performance in the tournament. There have been controversies all over the place, starting with the Bhajji-Sreeshanth Slap, the Cheer Girls issue, the umpiring issues, the Maliya Issue, Yuvraj Singh taking on the Mumbai crowd and many other small issues here and there.

Among all this there has been one silent yet publicizing personality who’s efforts need to be commended and criticized too. The reason I say that is very straight forward because the way Shahrukh said he is not going to attend any matches of the IPL anymore raises a simple doubt. If Kolkata Knight Riders qualified for the semi-finals or if they still had of qualifying to the semi-finals would he still give this statement and stick to it. I wouldn’t think so. The statement that he is gonna boycott all the IPL matches came right after the fact that Kolkata’s match against Delhi was washed out. That washed out even the sneakiest chances of KKR qualifying to the semi-finals. Bang came the statement. Wahh SRK, you have awesome timing.

In his interview with IBN-LIVE, along with Dada, “King with Dada” was the name of the episode I guess. In that episode, SRK was at his acting best. If there was an award for the best acting award for leading male in a interview he would have won it for sure. These are some of the words he said in the interview,

“I do not know even a single number in this entire tournament. I do not know what money the company is making from the team and I do not know what money we are spending on the team.” Why did he sack 5 players to save the money if he did not count any numbers. Did someone tell him in his dream to sack them, well he does not get enough sleep too, to get a dream.

“All I know is to keep the KKR team happy. And I will do anything to keep them happy.”

“Even at an age of 106 Saurav Ganguly will be the captain of KKR.” I think he said some dialouge similar to this in the shoot that evening. Every single word he uttered in that interview was so artificial. You can check the interview in IBN-LIVE at this link:

Followed by this talk with IBN-LIVE which dramatized to the core, he comes up with an SMS talking about wins and loses to the Cricketers. Here is that link, again a very dramatic and cinematic SMS. Check it at:

I really appreciated the way he picked up the most fragile team and location as his team. Fragile here I meant the kind of support the Kolkata crowd is know for. He needs courage to do that, he needs great courage and he took that brave step. He started of with great ad-campaign, he got the first few sponsor’s. Everyone thought he made the wisest decision in investing in Kolkata, but he might have now realized that acting in movie and managing a cricket team is not the same. The most crucial point that I feel he needs to realize is that he should not give speeches to everyone as if he is acting in a movie like Chak De India.

So thats what I feel guys, Mr. Shahrukh has done a great job in selecting the team and the initial marketing of the team but has he carried the team forward in the right spirit? Did he realize some facts about Kolkata team and specially great Dada??? Lets see what the end of IPL teaches us…

Do you think IPL is a great innovation?

Hello people,

I am getting back to blogs after a long gap. I felt like taking a break for a while due to some personal issues.

As you all know there has been a huge talk about IPL and the impact it has on cricket and specially Indian Cricket. Its good to be the center stage for such a magnanimous event. But should this credit go to the BCCI for creating this stage? What do you guys think?

I would not give the credit to BCCI because for a simple reason that, none of the entire event is an innovation by them. The event is a copy of the great idea given by the ICL team. I really appreciate the way they came up with this idea of involving young talent from different states and making them play with some of the big guns around the world.

The way in which BCCI handled the situation when they had to face a competitor in terms of ICL was debatable. It went to such a pathetic position that it asked all the other teams to ban the players from the their international team if they join ICL. Now that creates a doubt in my mind: Who controls world cricket? BCCI? or ICC? How can BCCI ask other teams to ban the player from their team and how can other teams even accept to that offer? Did BCCI pay all the teams in this world to do that. Is that not cheap on their part.

The second point I would like to raise is about the controversial yet profitable business that they are planning to make out of this entire drama. They started the Auction just emulating the English Premire Leauge for Football. And it plans to make use of all the grounds which were supposed to be used for international encounters. I am not opposed to them using the grounds, but when ICL requested them to give permission for the grounds, they sent a note to all the grounds in India not to permit ICL matches. Is that the way they encourage a new idea. Is BCCI trying to encourage cricket and youngsters in India or are they trying to make as much money as they can. Even the commercial that has been created for this IPL is copied from a baseball AD made in USA.

Nothing in the entire event is innovative. The only thing that saved BCCI is the money that they have and the money that they are able to spend on the event. But according to me the credit should go the ICL team for budding up with such a great idea.

HATS OFF ICL!!!!!

At the end of day all of us need fun and entertainment. So lets enjoy the colorful event of IPL but just a reminder and request not to forget ICL. The think tank of this event.

Yours Chaitanya.
